NYPIRG's Bill "TechMagic" Mahoney has crunched the numbers on lobbyist spending for 2011, and the winner is... The Committee To Save New York.

The pro-Cuomo group, funded by business and real estate interests, beat out 2,779 other groups last year, spending $11.9 million. CSNY totally blew out runner-up 1199/SEIU & the GNYHA Heath Care Education Project, which spent a paltry (ha) $6.8 million, and NYSUT, the state teachers union, at $4.2 million. Also up there: Walmart, which has been trying to make a foray into NYC; the pro-SSM umbrella group New Yorkers United For Marriage and Aqueduct casino operators Genting New York.
